Passing the Flame On

I met Weizhu for dinner yesterday, and to our pleasant surprise, we bumped into Calyn and Guanrui. They were going to St. Andrew's Cathedral to find a nice quiet place to record a song. =D Weizhu instantly took them under his 'wings', listening to their songs (Calyn guitar+lyrics, Guanrui vocals) and giving them sagely advice. =)

So heartwarming! I was sitting there, just listening, when I heard one very beautiful song... I asked Calyn whether that was a Corrinne May song. Gosh. Turns out Cal wrote the lyrics herself. Haha!

But honestly, Cal really has talent in songwriting. And thank God for Guanrui who shares the same passion as her - together they are blessing the kingdom of God, and the church, with their eager desire to use their holiday times to write beautiful songs for God! :D

It's so encouraging. Weizhu, Huichun and Sijia, during their time in the NUS ministry, had the desire to start a music ministry in the NUS group. It didn't come to fruition after all, but God was at work behind it all... 'cos WZ, HC and Jia all honed their musical skills faithfully.

And a "generation" later, I saw Weizhu, with the wealth of skill, wisdom and experience, teaching and imparting to Cal and Guanrui. What a joy it is to see how the gift of God's flame is being passed down from one generation to another!

I'm reminded at this point here of this passage that WZ shared with me right after his quiet time back three years ago:
Psalm 48
12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
view her citadels,
that you may tell of them to the next generation.
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end.

Amen indeed. :)
