The Two Sorrows

Godly sorrow is sorrow that sees through the eyes of God and humbly receives the forgiveness of Christ and grieves with the conviction brought by the Holy Spirit. No wonder it brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets! It sees hope and believes He can raise the dead.

But worldly sorrow sees the situation only from what one could not do on his own strength, or bemoans the failures of others. It sees through the eyes of the world, and therefore only darkness and despair - and therefore. hopelessness. It is sorrow that does not believe in God's redemptive power. No wonder it brings death! It is a sorry that brings no cure.
